WLCI Course in Fashion Designing

Fashion designing is inter-disciplinary in nature, closely allied with illustration, photography, visual studies, and material culture. Fashion is taught as one's cultural embodiment within a social framework and learned through rigorous attention to detail and attention to production, craft and contemporary aesthetics. 

Students build a vision and a language through conceptual processes emphasizing curiosity, imagination, improvisation and play. They communicate that vision through proficiency in construction and illustration skills, fluency with materials, traditional techniques, and digital technologies as well as synthesis of a variety of research.

A career in ‘Fashion Designing’ calls for dollops of creativity, hard-work and patience to convert your design and sketches into reality and create a work of art in fabric. But if you think you have it in you what it takes to achieve it, you should go for it. 

The course curriculum in Fashion Covers:

•  Trend forecasting,
• Textile and surface ornamentation techniques,
•  Pattern making,
• Garment construction,
• Draping and production techniques including computer application in Fashion production among various other things.

Graduates in fashion carry the hallmarks of the department into the working world, where they are recognized for a commitment to ingenuity, authenticity, creativity and personal vision as well as have an informed versatility. WLCI Fashion School takes a look at the history of tattoo. Tattooing has been practiced for centuries throughout the world. The oldest evidence of extant tattooing on preserved skin dates to 6000 BC on the South American Chinchorro mummy.

It has always existed in various cultures and various tribes as a fashion or accessory element or sometimes perhaps as a part of a ritual. Since the 1970s, tattoos have become a mainstream part of global and Western fashion, common among both sexes, to all economic classes, and to age groups from the later teen years to middle age.

WLCI on Berlin’s Carnival of Cultures

WLCI Fashion School reviews Berlin's Carnival of Cultures! This carnival not only celebrates diverse cultures, their fashion and costume but also the ingenuity of the human spirit.

Every year on the week of the Pentecost (Whitsun), Berlin's Kreuzberg borough come alive with the colors of the world. Celebrated since 1966, long before the two estranged Germany's came together; the Carnival of Cultures puts on a great pageantry of parades, costumes and sounds from the world over. 

Nearly 5,000 participants from 80 countries join the parade, which begins at noon and continues through the evening. From Brazilian Samba dancers and Polish mud-covered artists to bedecked women from Nepal, the performers draw crowds of over a million visitors who flock from far and near.

Muslin Mela by WLCI Fashion Students

The WLCI Fashion Technology School recently presented their Muslin Collection for 2014. The students displayed their collection in front of the fashion industry professionals who appeared as jury members.

The designs had a ton of variety and showcased a vivid imagination. They did woo the audience by their fresh outlook, style and cut.
