WLCI Course in Fashion Designing

Fashion designing is inter-disciplinary in nature, closely allied with illustration, photography, visual studies, and material culture. Fashion is taught as one's cultural embodiment within a social framework and learned through rigorous attention to detail and attention to production, craft and contemporary aesthetics.

Students build a vision and a language through conceptual processes emphasizing curiosity, imagination, improvisation and play. They communicate that vision through proficiency in construction and illustration skills, fluency with materials, traditional techniques, and digital technologies as well as synthesis of a variety of research.

A career in ‘Fashion Designing’ calls for dollops of creativity, hard-work and patience to convert your design and sketches into reality and create a work of art in fabric. But if you think you have it in you what it takes to achieve it, you should go for it.

The course curriculum in Fashion Covers:
  • Design process,
  • Fashion illustration,
  •  Trend forecasting,
  • Textile and surface ornamentation techniques,
  •  Pattern making,
  • Garment construction,
  • Draping and production techniques including computer application in Fashion production among various other things.

Graduates in fashion carry the hallmarks of the department into the working world, where they are recognized for a commitment to ingenuity, authenticity, creativity and personal vision as well as have an informed versatility. After pursuing a thorough course in ‘Fashion Technology’ at WLCI, the students would have a creative approach that would reflect and challenge the needs of contemporary culture.
