WLCI
Fashion School takes a look at the history of tattoo. Tattooing has been
practiced for centuries throughout the world. The oldest evidence of extant
tattooing on preserved skin dates to 6000 BC on the South American Chinchorro
mummy.
It
has always existed in various cultures and various tribes as a fashion or
accessory element or sometimes perhaps as a part of a ritual. Since the 1970s,
tattoos have become a mainstream part of global and Western fashion, common
among both sexes, to all economic classes, and to age groups from the later
teen years to middle age.
