WLCI Fashion School reviews Berlin's Carnival of Cultures! This carnival not only
celebrates diverse cultures, their fashion and costume but also the ingenuity
of the human spirit.
Every
year on the week of the Pentecost (Whitsun), Berlin's Kreuzberg borough come
alive with the colors of the world. Celebrated since 1966, long before the two
estranged Germany's came together; the Carnival of Cultures puts on a great
pageantry of parades, costumes and sounds from the world over.
Nearly 5,000 participants from 80
countries join the parade, which begins at noon and continues through the
evening. From Brazilian Samba dancers and Polish mud-covered artists to
bedecked women from Nepal, the performers draw crowds of over a million visitors
who flock from far and near.
